Once you visit, it can be easily understood why this town is nicknamed “Heavenston”. Of course, it could be that it is also known as “The City of Churches” which is quite evident in the downtown area. I should know -- I’ve been married there twice. Certainly, best known as the home of Northwestern University, it also hosts the Music Institute, and the Heartwood Center. It has a thriving downtown commercial zone as well as many neighborhood commerce centers scattered around the town. The medium home price is $340,000 which is spread across a variety of housing ranging from grand mansions and Victorians near Lake Michigan, high and low-rise condominiums just inland and downtown, and a wide array of single-family homes further west. The children attend some ten different public grade/middle schools in District #65, or go to Evanston Township H.S., District #202. The city is served with commuter transportation via the Chicago-Milwaukee Railway and the CTA Purple Line. The largest employers are: Northwestern University, NorthShore University Health System, and Saint Francis Hospital.
