Harwood Heights is a small community of some 8,000 people carved into the northwest corner of Chicago. The Ridgemoor Country Club occupies nearly all the east quarter of the town which is centered on Lawrence and Harlem Avenues. It is here you will find the Holiday Plaza which houses many fine stores and restaurants including Portillo’s, which serves the best chocolate cake in the hemisphere. The housing is a gentle mix of low-rise condos, Four Squares, and Chicago bungalows. The homes that I’ve inspected there were always in good condition as the residents take great pride in their properties. There are three elementary schools as well as Maine Township H.S. #207, and Ridgemoor High School. A great deal of the population is composed of Polish and Italian nationals.
